That’s the message from the Federal government after the Australian Army took control of the Queensland township of Childers overnight.
Minister for Defence, Senator David Johnson, confirmed that 150 Australian military personnel had overpowered the 1,500 local Isis inhabitants without any loss of life.
Isis insurgents in Childers defeated
“By taking the Isis shire’s stronghold of Childers, Australia has made the world a safer place,” said a beaming Senator Johnson.
“President Obama asked Australia to help out with the Isis problem. And today we have done it.”
When questioned about the relationship between ISIS militants in Iraq and the Isis shire in Queensland, the Minister said he was restricted from what he could say due to operational reasons.
“Let’s just say it’s no big secret that people in the Isis shire were unhappy when they were absorbed by the Bundaberg Regional Council.”
“It’s also no secret that Childers attracts a lot of foreign backpackers. As commonsense will tell you, one man’s backpacker is another man’s terrorist.”
Childers locals are said to be bemused by the heavy military presence throughout the town.
But the Minister said that Australian forces are there for the long haul.
“I want to stress that Australia is not at war with the Isis shire. The military personnel currently deployed in Childers are a peacekeeping force.”
“But even if it takes years to deal with the Isis threat, Australia is committed to seeing the mission through.”
