The aviation industry’s worst kept secret has been confirmed.
Off the back of two highly successful Malaysia Airlines disaster campaigns, the Australian government has decided to seize formal control of the ailing carrier.
“The current leadership of Malaysia Airlines has dealt with the MH370 and MH17 disasters terribly,” said Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
“I can’t believe they haven’t been able to make any mileage out of what is obviously an appalling human tragedy.”
“Australia has been there from the start, ready to brief the media at every opportunity.”
“As far as the world is concerned, the Australian government is running Malaysia Airlines already.”
“So why not make it official?”
Mr Abbott confirmed that Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Australian Federal Police are on standby in Singapore, ready to travel to Kuala Lumpur to effect the takeover.
“We don’t expect any trouble from the Malaysians,” said Mr Abbott.
“They’ll probably be glad to get rid of the thing.”
Australian government Malaysia Airlines takeover “perfect”
Aviation experts believe that Malaysia Airlines and Australia are a perfect fit.
“Everyone agrees Australia needs a national airline again,” said aviation blogger Trevor Feebishley.
“With a workforce based in Asia and poor management, Malaysia Airlines is already like a lot of Australian companies.”
“For instance, Qantas.”
