Queensland Premier Campbell Newman has come down hard on his parliamentary colleagues after another LNP MP has got themselves into hot water (or, in this case, red wine).
In a decisive move, Mr Newman has announced that he will sack all MPs who come from electorates with “Red” in their name.
The move comes after disgraced Redclife (and former LNP) MP, Scott Driscoll, returned to State Parliament on a day trip and newly-disgraced Redlands MP, Peter Dowling, apologised for a sexting scandal in which his lower house member was snapped in a glass of red wine.
Mr Newman has also stood down Mt Coot-tha MP, Saxon Rice, because her electorate includes Red Hill.
In addition, an investigation has been launched into LNP members who have recently attended Queensland Reds’ matches or frequented Red Rooster outlets.
“From now on, all members of the LNP are on notice,” said the Premier.
“Red is dead. And let me make this perfectly clear: if anyone even thinks about going to see Red 2, there will be hell to pay.”
