Queensland mining giant Clive Palmer has announced at a specially convened press conference that he intends to become the next President of Venezuela.
Palmer’s voice is the latest to dispute the result of the recent Venezuelan presidential election.
“The claims that I got less votes than Nicolas Maduro in the recent presidential vote is preposterous,” said Palmer.
“My Palmer United Party is the true voice of all Venezuelans.”
“I’m not interested in being involved in dreams. I’m interested in making change in this country and providing employment and a real future and a real aspiration for our people.”
Mr Palmer urged his supporters to storm the streets of Venezuela and wave the Palmer United Party’s famous Chinese flag emblem.
“Let me make this clear. I loved Hugo Chavez. I even loved him more than the Titanic.”
“I am a Chavista. I am the biggest male Chavista in the world.”
“If Mr Maduro or anyone else thinks otherwise, let’s rip off our shirts and decide this thing once and for all.”
