LNP sideshow to take lucky Queenslanders for a ride
0State Opposition Leader Campbell Newman has urged Queenslanders to turn their backs on the political sideshow of the Bligh government.
Instead he urged Queenslanders to support the LNP sideshow at this year’s Ekka.
Aside from traditional Ekka favourites such as the Leadership Carousel and the Policy Raffle, this year the LNP is offering showgoers a ride they will never forget.
Called the Debt Plunge, it’s a terrifying ten-storey descent that Mr Newman promises will leave Ekka patrons “screaming for ballot paper”.
But if that’s not enough, there’s the Tunnel of Love: a two kilometre subterranean rollercoaster beneath the Brisbane River.
But despite Mr Newman’s enthusiasm, the Tunnel of Love has attracted little patronage so far.
“We think the problem has been with the ticketing, rather than with the tunnel itself,” said the ride’s operator.
“Hopefully, with the E-tags we’ve introduced, we’ll be taking a lot of people down and giving them one helluva ride.”
One person who won’t be going anywhere near the LNP is maverick Federal MP, Bob Katter.
“I’ve got better things to do than be seen hanging around with a bunch of clowns.”
