Thousands of Australians face legal action after the Federal Court ruled that internet service providers must release the contact details of people who like Matthew McConaughey films.
The court decision means that any Australian who has downloaded a Matthew McConaughey film like The Dallas Buyers Club can be sued for bad taste.
Legal experts have warned that Matthew McConaughey lovers should expect settlement letters in the post any day now.
“Australians have developed a very casual attitude to downloading Matthew McConaughey movies,” says Brisbane law academic Sam Scootermore.
“We’ve come to think that liking Matthew McConaughey films is a victimless crime.”
“But when Matthew McConaughey won an Oscar for acting, someone had to pay.”
“After this court ruling, we now know that the people who will pay are Australians.”
