Newspoll reveals Tony Abbott preferred US President
1In a coup for Australian politics, the latest Newspoll has revealed that Tony Abbott is now the preferred President of the United States.
The poll results come after weeks of sustained attacks against President Barack Obama by News Limited newspapers in Australia.
The Australian newspaper has been notable in hammering Mr Obama for being an “ungrateful guest” during his recent G20 visit and for speaking inappropriately about climate change and the fate of the Great Barrier Reef.
“These figures show what a joke Barack Obama has become,” says Newspoll analyst Grant Shuck.
Although the Newspoll sample was small and only included Australians with a landline who were prepared to answer the phone at dinner time, the results suggest Tony Abbott could be the next President of the United States if he can prove he was born there.
“News Limited has been telling people that Tony Abbott is a great world leader and these results prove they were right,” says Mr Shuck.
As well as rating him a better President, the majority of Newspoll respondents believe Mr Abbott is a better and more effective orator than Mr Obama.
90% of respondents also praised Mr Abbott for his strong and decisive action against terror organisations such as the ABC.

They can have him. He’d probably look like a small “l” liberal over there anyway.
