The head of the Australian Federal Police has warned that threats of a terrorist threat are on the rise.
Australian Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin said that he was deeply concerned by the trend.
“Once upon a time, all the head of the AFP had to do was stand in front of a cache of confiscated drugs and ask his teenage kids what its street value was.”
“Now I’m on the radio or TV every week telling Australians that there is – or could be – a threat of a terrorist threat.”
Mr Colvin said the threat of terrorist threat increasing even further was very real.
“It’s not even Federal Election time,” he warned.
“By the time an election comes round, I’ll probably be spending my entire working day telling Australians there are people out there who are threatening to harm them.”
“And I don’t just mean the Labor Party and the Greens.”
