Kevin Rudd has continued to play down speculation that he is preparing to challenge Tony Abbott for the Coalition leadership.
“Give us a break,” said Rudd at a press conference to announce the release of new photographs of himself with ordinary hardworking Australians.
“I support Tony as Coalition leader and that remains my position.”
Rudd’s denial has ceased to quell speculation that a challenge is imminent.
“Obviously, challenging Tony is the best chance of Kevin becoming Prime Minister again,” said one Liberal backbencher.
“No one in the Coalition cares about Kevin’s Labor past. What’s important is that Kevin is ruthless and that he hates Julia Gillard.”
“You can’t get more Liberal Party than that!”
