Scott Morrison blames same sex marriage for Fantastic 4
0The debate about same sex marriage has intensified, with Social Services Minister Scott Morrison taking aim at the latest Marvel Comics film, Fantastic 4.
As supporters of same sex marriage continue to descend on Canberra, Mr Morrison says it is time for some even-handed public debate.
“I’ve seen a lot of posters for Fantastic 4 this week and frankly it sickens me.”
“Marriage should be between a man and a woman – not two men, a woman and a guy made out of rocks.”
Although Mr Morrison admitted he hadn’t seen the movie, he said the connection between same sex marriage and four people fighting was “so obvious an idiot could see it”.
“I’ve heard a lot of people say Fantastic 4 is absolutely terrible and I can only agree.”
Mr Morrison suggested that a constitutional referendum could even be held to decide if future Fantastic 4 sequels and reboots were allowed in Australia.
Same sex marriage supporters support Fantastic Four
Supporters of same sex marriage within Coalition ranks have expressed puzzlement at Mr Morrison’s stance.
“I’ve always been a great supporter of the Fantastic 4 in principle,” said the Communications Minister, Malcolm Turnbull.
However, Mr Turnbull conceded he would not cross the floor – or a cinema foyer – to watch the latest Fantastic 4 film unless the Prime Minister allowed Coalition MPs to act according to their conscience.
