The Tunnel applauds the Federal Labor Party’s decision to challenge Julia Gillard to beat herself in an uncontested leadership ballot.
“It’s a relief that commonsense has prevailed,” says The Tunnel’s Future Planning manager, Mr Neil Robertson.
“No one thinks of the satirists. We’ve got months of leadership jokes and redhead jokes stockpiled away. And let’s not forget all the Lego.”
“If Labor changes leaders, all that material, all that work goes out the window.”
While pleased that the leadership spill didn’t eventuate, Mr Robertson says he hopes Bob Hawke makes a return to politics some time soon.
“We’ve got someone on the team who can do a really good Bob impersonation and it’s just sitting around gathering dust at the moment.”
Mr Robertson says The Tunnel also has material prepared if Brendan Nelson becomes Leader of the Opposition again.
“Those jokes just write themselves.”
