First he promised to “shirt-front” Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Now Tony Abbott has threatened to “dack” anyone who speaks out against coal.
First on the Prime Minister’s list is Booker Prize winner Richard Flanagan.
A fired-up Mr Abbott has responded that he will show Mr Flanagan what it’s really like to feel ashamed.
“I’m going to dack him,” said the Prime Minister.
Mr Abbott declined to reveal when or how he would dack the prize-winning author.
“All I want to say at this stage is anyone who says coal is bad can expect a very robust conversation with me.”
“And their pants around their ankles.”
The Prime Minister added that criticism of the coal industry by someone who writes books for a living is hypocritical.
“Unlike literature, coal is good for humanity, coal is good for prosperity, coal is an essential part of our economic future, here in Australia, and right around the world.”
“The only thing books and coal have in common is they are both good for burning.”
