Who Are We?
The Tunnel presents… is an Australian satire website. For more of our stories, CLICK HERE.
The Tunnel is a group of satire writers based in Brisbane, Australia.
In 2010 some boys and girls formed a satire-writing team. Our plan was to write for the theatre – or, even better, to write for state-funded theatre. (Ah, every writer’s dream of getting paid!)
In honour of Campbell Newman and his love of burrowing underground, we called ourselves The Tunnel. We wrote sketches. We wrote songs. We had readings at the state theatre company and put on a show about Tony Abbott called Uncle Tony’s Oats.
And while we waited for the call-up to become Queensland’s version of The Wharf Revue, we decided we had better have a blog.
In June 2011 The Tunnel presents… went online with a story about Brisbane junior soccer and those dastardly villains at FIFA.
We launched the blog with another one-off show, Campbell’s Winter Soup. You should have been there. (Really, you should have.)
The call-up to the big time of state-subsidised theatre is yet to come. But no matter. We’ve got this blog and we’ve got readers like you. And we’ve got lots of cute Lego!
Since 2011, The Tunnel has presented satirical news, humour and Australian political satire with a Queensland focus. All our stories are (probably) made up, unless you prefer otherwise.
Speaking of which, check out our letter of endorsement from Stefan.
Thank you for reading. We hope you enjoy The Tunnel presents…
