Despite his government’s defeat in the weekend’s Federal Election, Kevin Rudd has refused to acknowledge that the Labor Party is beaten.
“It’s not over yet,” said an upbeat Mr Rudd.
“As you will recall, Julia Gillard called a Federal Election earlier this year for September 14.”
“We may have lost on September 7 but I’m confident that the Labor Party can win the return fixture.”
Rudd refused to be drawn on what tactics would be used to turn things around at the September 14 election, other than to emphasise that “a week is a long time in politics”.
At the very least, it seems likely that Rudd will respond to calls for the introduction of Quade Cooper.
Members of the Coalition were too busy getting drunk on power to respond to Mr Rudd’s announcement.
